Skellefteå, Sweden – February 26, 2013 – NUITEQ®, the award winning multitouch software developer, announced today that it has deployed a 65” interactive multitouch display with custom developed multitouch software, based on the Snowflake Suite platform, in the arrival hall of Skellefteå Airport.

Skellefteå Municipality owned Skellefteå Airport required a groundbreaking interactive experience in the heart of its facilities, that would grab the attention of its national and international visitors and inform them about all the amazing activities that are taking place in the region.

With over 6 years of experience in delivering interactive wow experiences, NUITEQ was approached to deliver a system that is both informative as well as entertaining and keeps visitors talking about their travel to Skellefteå.

The system informs visitors about flight destinations, local events and local news. Additionally users can visit Facebook, check the latest flight departure and arrival times and look at the current and forecasted weather info of all flight destinations. Visitors can explore media content such as PDF brochures, photos and videos about the city and the activities the region has to offer. They can also send a message to Skellefteå Airport and the municipality, using the Guest Book application with the onscreen keyboard.

At the same time, one can look up information about local hotels, businesses and transportation, such as bus and taxi. The Google Maps application highlights several hot spots of interest in the city.

The Flight Radar application is a component that is integrated, where the Snowflake platform is working with a 3rd party API platform to receive data from a database, visualising the current flight patterns of all flights above Scandinavia and even beyond.

As the Skellefteå AIK hockey team is one of the biggest prides of the city, a SAIK branded airhockey game was included as an entertaining element to visitors of any age.

Arkitektkopia designed the outer casing of the display, which is a beautiful with gloss finish notebook. This way the solution stands out in its environment and at the same time fits with the interior of the arrival hall. SSC Skellefteå manufactured the actual casing and NUITEQ’s partner Concept Solutions delivered and integrated the 65” multitouch display on site.
